After 9 hours, drive shaft fell off as collar lock had not been set. Lucky, no damage. However, when I tried to re-connect, the rear coupling did not go on as shaft hit a hydraulic line near frame, prevent the exact alignment that is needed for the splines. Had to "hammer" 5/16" diameter metal line toward center of tractor so it would not hit driveshaft, then I could install driveshaft, itself. Clearance is about 1/16th inch. Has anyone encountered the same problem with long driveshaft that is under tractor and supplies power to snowblower?

I recently had my dealer here in Alaska install a snowblower on my JD-4200. This tractor has a mid PTO and mower deck attachment. The mower apparatus interfered with the drive shaft from PTO to snow blower, preventing the shaft from connecting. I was flabbergasted at this design goofup. However my dealer, who has given excellent service, called JD who said it is aware of the problem and is engineering a fix; due next spring. In the meantime, we took off the mower attachment apparatus which allowed the driveshaft to connect to the blower. Apparently the fix will be in a newly designed mower attachment. ....
